10 Best Things About Being Home for Winter Break
1. Home Cooked Meals
BEST. THING. EVER. Don’t get me wrong, I love my on the go macaroni and cheese, but homemade mashed potatoes never fail.
2. Hallmark Movies
I personally LOVE wrapping up in a blanket with a warm mug of hot cocoa, watching Hallmark movies all afternoon…So what if you can guess the ending within the first five minutes?!
3. Cuddles with your Pets
School seems much harder without from best pal of a pup by my side, so many puppy cuddles are needed throughout break.
4. Family Time
Winter break is one of the only times both my brother and I are home, so the world domination of Risk and overly competitive nights of Monopoly tend to be a good time.
5. Catching up with High School Friends
It’s weird when you used to see the same friends every single morning early in AP Stats, and now they go to college across the country in what seems like a million miles away, always a good time to have a reunion.
6. De-Stress from School
School? Work? Study? Sorority? Clubs? Meetings? Events? Being social? Not being good at saying no to helping with more events and clubs? Running errands? Working out? Why wouldn’t college kids be stressed?
7. Sleep
I swear every time I come home for break, the first two or three days back I sleep more often than not, catching up from all the late study nights and early classes.
8. Find different ways to keep busy
Making sure I don’t end up as just a lazy bum all break, I like to pick up some shifts at my old job at a doggie day care (playing with dogs all day is actually the best) and tend to babysit a lot (how else would I get caught up on all the awful new Disney Channel shows??)
9. Your own bed
I don’t know about everyone else, but I have a different bed in Manhattan then what I do at home and oh man, does it feel good to be back in my own bed for a bit.
10. Holidays
Eggnog season, Christmas lights, some Mariah Carey, and New Year’s? I think yes. It is such a pretty time of year, and there is SO much to be thankful for.
