Being the Best Version of You
When I was a freshman in high school, I decided to change my habits and be the best version that I can possibility be. I started going to my local YMCA with my mom, and soon found my passion for running and after time I couldn’t go a day without running. The feeling during running, as if I am on top of the world. Have you had a moment like this when you felt invisible, or like you could do anything that you set your mind to? If not, then you need to go out and find something that you have a passion for that makes you feel like that! Go out of your comfort zone and discover some type of exercise that makes you have that feeling! Go to the rec, go to that Zumba, pound, cycle, or yoga class or even just lift some weights! Grab your roommates, friends, or even your sorority sisters and go to one of those classes. Find something that makes you feel like you’re a million bucks, because if I never took the chance to start running, I would never have found my passion towards running or found myself.
To me when I eat clean, I feel clean, and after eating a nutritional meal I feel as if I’m giving back to my body for everything that it has done for me. After starting to focus on myself I knew that not only does working out improve me mentally and physically but my eating habits did too. I quit drinking soda, snacking on junk food, and eating foods that have no nutritional value to my body. I started drinking more water, and from keeping it from getting boring I would add some lemon, lime, strawberries, etc. in it. My unhealthy snacks soon turned into apples & peanut butter, carrots & hummus or anything besides junk. I started looking at food and asking myself “How is this going to make me feel? or “How will this impact my body?”. Once I started asking myself these questions, I felt refreshed, as if my body thanked me every time I said “no” to something that’s not nutritional. So next time you go for that candy bar or bag of chips ask yourself those questions, and see how your body responses to you when you quit those unhealthy habits. These are all ways to help you be the best version of yourself!
